Clinical Advisory Pharmacist

Mō te tūnga | The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent or multiple fixed term Clinical Advisory Pharmacists to join our Programme and Practice Development team.

The role of the Clinical Advisory Pharmacist is to provide a complementary skill set to fellow clinicians and patients. Clinical advisory pharmacists will be available to respond to medicine information queries from TeAHN prescribers and to provide pharmacy facilitation services to practices across the network as required.

For clinical advisory pharmacists working in general practice, the primary purpose is to support GPs and the wider clinical staff to optimise patient outcomes through quality use of medicines and to support practice system enhancements through quality improvement audits.

As the Clinical Advisory Pharmacist, you will work within a general practice team to positively impact medication management.  This may include doing clinical medication reviews for complicated (single disease) and / or complex (multiple comorbidity) patients.

In addition, you will:

  • Lead and/or support continuous quality improvement processes as they relate to prescribing.
  • Support general practice teams with accurate, up to date advice on medicine related issues.
  • Have proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Mōu | About you

  • A minimum of 5 years post-registration recent experience in a patient-centred role.
  • Registered with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand and holds a current Annual Practising Certificate with no conditions.
  • Holds or is working towards Post Graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy.
  • Proven relationship management skills.
  • Commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and promoting positive outcomes for Tangata Whenua.
  • Ability to work with all cultures, evidencing culturally responsive practice.
