Kaihiringa Hauora (Health Promoter)

Te Awakairangi Health Network is seeking two people to make a difference for the wellbeing of our community as Kaihiringa Hauora (Health Promoter) within our Population Health team. This is an extremely exciting opportunity for the right person to work within a team where your mana will be valued. 


The Kaihiringa Hauora (Health Promoter) – Population Health, works as part of the Population Health team to provide knowledge, leadership and support for population health programmes and initiatives. The position works closely with other staff within Te Awakairangi Health Network, and with primary and community providers, health agencies, local and central government, and communities to promote system change that supports equitable health outcomes.

The Population Health team seeks to add value to Te Awakairangi Health Network’s purpose, making a difference in health outcomes for our communities and priority groups. Our team works to retain a balanced and mana enhancing culture, supporting each other, our colleagues within the Network and our partners across the rohe.

The Kaihiringa Hauora (Health Promoter) – Population Health focus will be:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with Māori communities, Pacific communities, central and local government, and health partners across the Hutt Valley, to promote system-wide change that supports good health outcomes.
  • Growing collaborative action in health-promoting settings that improve equity of health outcomes for our priority populations including Māori, Pacific and low-income families.
  • Supporting, co-ordinating and delivering health promotion at key events which engage with priority populations.
  • Working with others to upskill the primary and community workforce with improved understanding of population health approaches, prevention, and healthy lifestyle interventions. 

We have approximately 1.8 FTE we need to fill. Hours will be negotiated with successful candidate(s).
